Hunting is very addictive! I find myself going to a spot not far from MacFarlene's Ranch near the railroad tracks and baiting the area (sometimes not even needing o bait) and have boars, coyotes, wolves and the occasional cougar come out. Very fun blasting them, skinning them and then going and selling them. I think I have close to $3000 now. Don't want to waste it on horses though but still waiting for better guns to unlock. I do want to try out multi-playe but haven't had much time for that. Though I'm playing on the Xbox 360

horses and houses are the only major purchases i think. Even then, I've only found three horses worth owning...and one of them was unlocked after i broke the stallion at mcfarlane's ranch.

Wait till you get into Mexico. man, I loved that.. it felt quite rewarding.
I haven't finished the game yet... i'm trying to take it slow.

The mountains were my favorite area. Beautiful scenery and big game!

Finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was doing one of those "Hey, that guy stole my horse" missions...
Lassoed the guy to pull him off the horse, jumped on the stolen horse and started to drag the thief behind me... Next thing I know some wolves start to chase us... I let them catch up and they killed the guy! hahaha
Justice...

Did you keep holding onto the lasso triggers to drag the guy while you rode the horse?

I think next time I'll hogtie a few criminals then lay some bait Twisted Evil

Yup!! Was dragging him through the wilderness to make an example of him hahahaha...

Also - WATCH OUT FOR BEARS!!!
Ba****ds will sneak up on you and 2 shot you without a sound, hahaha...
(Especially if you kill one of their friends! Have has a line of 4-5 show up after killing one... Killed them all only to have one hit me in the back as I was getting ready to skin em Razz)

All around a fantastic game Very Happy

I just started playing this after finishing Alan Wake (which was quite excellent for a survival horror game) and am only up to the Seth quests after the Hanging Bonnie quest but damn...this game is amazing! Spent most of my Sunday playing it and it was beautiful outside. Usually I'd go for a hike but this game sucked me in.

Yeah I find it quite addictive too. I WANT to get Alan Wake too as I heard it was quite good, any chance of you wanting to get rid of yours? I can get it for 50 000 at Yongsan but it would be nice to get it cheaper.

Was "sick" on Friday...
Don't even want to get started on home much time I spent gathering flowers, tracking down animals, and randomly hunting animals for fun...

Nothing beats blowing a porcupine up with a buffalo rifle from 100 yards, hahahaha...

(FYI - There is a trophy for leaving someone on the train tracks and watching as the train goes by... hehehehe)

RDR really interests me as I love old westerns and the game looks a lot of fun... but I never got in to GTA4. The clumsy controls, the repetitive missions etc.

Would someone who dislikes GTA4 like RDR?

I understand where you're coming from as I never came close to finishing GTA4 as I only did perhaps a third of the missions and then got sucked into the multi-player but even that got tiresome after awhile. With Red Dead Redemption though, THIS definitely has sucked me in and I LOVE the variety of missions. You will NOT be disappointed with this game and I'm sure the multi-player will be a blast too, though I've just barely dabbled in that. Pick it up my friend, it's well worth it.

I really enjoyed the game and played it through to the end.

However, let's be realistic here. There's not that much to it:

Ride a horse and shoot baddies.

For fun, wrangle a horse, skin a beaver and do some gambling.

Nothing so exciting as to keep me playing after the missions were over. The great storyline and cinematic scenery, more than the any spectacular game play, kept me going.

Side missions for strangers, challenges involving hunting/skill shooting/gathering/map finding...
Multiple ways to solve problems...
Shooting wild animals for fun and profit...
Random encounters with people, not always friendly (some of them canibals! lol)
Skinning your stupid horse when it decides to leave you in the middle of nowhere because it can't handle falling off of a 15 foot cliff...

There's enough to keep you going here that you could play this game for horus without touching the storyline Very Happy
(Though you will need to follow the story to unlock areas to progress certain elements of the extra stuff, such as missions for "strangers" and the shooting/hunting/gathering challenges)
