Smeltz heads wide!

What a goal that would've been!

A late flurry of attack from the Kiwi.

3 minutes of injury time to play. Can Slovakia weather the storm?

It was a towering header, but from a much younger face in NZ soccer.

Winston Reid scores a famous goal to earn a draw in the World Cup for NZ. Expect the offers to come flooding in from across Europe for this boy.

Let's chalk that up as the first shock result of this World Cup finals.

Nice. This is why you should never resign yourself to the supposed inevitable.

I only caught the last 10 minutes, but felt an equalizer was coming. And that cross had goal written all over it. The defending could've been better, but superb entertainment nonetheless

The final stats show a relatively even game. Possession slightly in NZ's favor, though they squandered it most of the time. NZ-2 shot on target Slovakia-3. NZ had the most quality shots. Especially Smeltz early on and another just before time.

Vittek thoroughly deserved the MOM, but will be bitterly dissapointed to be on the losing side.

NZ will be looking towards the rest of the tournament. Enjoying themselves against Italy, then keeping it respectable against Paraguay will equal a highly successful tournament for the All Whites.

Haha, whoops. As good as a win for NZ. Must feel like a loss for Slovakia.

Yup stoked as! Heres hoping we can put the same kinda pressure on Italy as we did last year. Has this Reid chap been playing in Denmark for the last few years? What a great find!
