"Yes, there is."
"Yes, there are."
Is "there" a preposition? |

It is referred to as existential there...basically filling a grammatical role, with no meaning....similar to "it".
In contrast to the adverb of place there...You can't drink beer there.
Not sure if you wanted more information..but hope this is useful. |
