Now first off let me say that I KNOW I am going to get way more attacks on me personally than support on this comment but.......
Some posters really need to make that dictinction.
Now I am the first to admit that I get passionate, and often rude with how I respond, and in many cases I am not a person who follows the majority, or the popular.
But there are far too many posters who confuse opinions and facts. There are also too many people who think that their position/opinion MUST be right and that someone who doesnt think the same is an idiot or a fool.
Now I don't need to bring up the posts I have noticed or been personally invoved in, but in some of them you have people being factually proven wrong and they insist they are right. Rarely do you see a poster being shown wrong and saying "My bad" ( I eat my humble pie often)
Then you have people saying that they ARE RIGHT when arguing a moral position, or a matter of opinion.
Then you have someone bring up valid points, and the other person just says "no you didn't"
Now again I can be hit with a lot of negative labels, I am the first to admit it, and you can think me odd for some of the positions I hold, I am the first to admit that many of my positions are fairly week and odd, but that's simply the way I see certain things.
BUt I admit when I am proven wrong, I understand the differecne between an opinion and a fact, and I never tell anyone their opinions are wrong. ( If anyone can show where any of those statements is false let me know so I can ammend or eat my humble pie yet again)
I also don't just dismiss the good points brought up by others and suggest that I am the only one that brings up valid points.
Anyway that's my rant. |

I later went on to show him in much detail that the States is a relatively unpolluted country. Is less polluted in many areas than 100 years ago, and continues to become cleaner.
Again telling someone they are wrong.

Our main debate was that Capitalism is a selfish greedy system that helps to pollute destroy the environment. You put too much blind faith in it to do somthing that it has not wanted to do in the last 200 years, let up, before it's too late. This too is a set of facts.
Even in your examples you hold up China as an example that a capitalsit countyr is not polluted In the international trade market it is capitalist despite it running its people under a different political ideology.
Again, point out some instances and I might be able to buy it. |

Wtf are you talking about? A "Chin" I guess you mean China.
China was one of the worst places to live in the world in the 20th century. They freed up their markets and are improving in leaps and bounds. Environmentally AND economically.

I am still not seeing where I am doing what I speak out againt. America may be "relativelly" clean when you compare it to other countries, its still dirty, dirtier than it was say 500 years ago, how did it get dirtier you ask, INDUSTRY, which is a direct result of capitalism.

I don't know, LITERALLY 100s of millions of people living in luxury that would have been indistinguishable from magic 500 years ago? I suppose for some people, message boards ARE a legitimate venue for serious discussion; the same kinds of discussions you'd have with someone in person. This does seem a bit overly serious, but I can see where they're coming from. |
