They don't care the English website don't accept Korean cards, because English is not necessary for domestic business to transact and other international dealings catering to Koreans. They are proudly happy to work more and pay extra in support of their country including the 2 airlines and all of it's supporters, producers, and suppliers. The Koreans really have a very different outlook on life than we Westerners do. A proud ethic of getting up early every day to work hard and pay it all out in support of their country increasing it's wealth. For most, there is no me me me, what about me and my money, I deserve cheaper bargain deals. The higher prices and limited quantities of product and service is an inconvenience to us, but the Koreans don't see it that way. To them, now is the time every thing has ever been most plentiful and accessible to them. While that's true, it is slim selection and services from our perspective.
If that's the case, then why are Cebu Pacific's flights to Cebu in the Philippines jam packed with Koreans? They fly Cebu Pacific because like everybody else who isn't Bill Gates they want to save money on their air fare.

550,000 to Manila, but a whopping 810,000 to Cebu. This was August 7th to the 15th I searched on their site as a sample Summer vacation. It's a foreign airline option, but not the bargain one would hope for...

Take the 10:05 PM CP flight Friday night instead. On the return, allow for a 2.5 hour layover in Manila that still returns you to Incheon by 8:45 PM. (You can use the layover to make a quick shopping trip to nearby SM Mall which offers free bag storage so you don't need to drag your luggage around.)

Cebu Pacific fare: 572,000 won
KAL fare: 844,000 won

844,000 - 572,000 = 272,000 won savings

Laughing I doubt it. I've made a number of these trips on CP and there's always a few Koreans complaining that the flight attendants didn't speak Korean. Obviously they flew CP because of the low fares.

BTW, CP also offers frequent fare sales. If you waited and kept checking their website, you'd probably get an even better deal.

Thanks. I'll just do that instead if I find I can get an airport bus shortly after 5pm on that Friday. Everything else is cheaper than KAL. Why would we even use such artificially ramped up fares as a comparative?

I got round trip tickets from late Dec to early Jan for 270,000 each.

I didn't even look at Korean air. Why bother?
