We all have them, the ones that drive us up a wall. But we bite our lip and don't say anything, at least in the classroom.

Well, now's your chance to let off some steam.

All of my students are going through puberty. By that right, it's their prerogative to be freaky/ full of rage and competition.

I had one that liked to brag about being in a gang. 3rd-year middle school... I guess he'd be 14 or 15 in the States. I always figured he was all hat and no cowboy, so to speak, but one day he turns up with a fairly large, multi-color tattoo covering his shoulder and most of his upper arm. Had his uniform rolled up to show it off.

Unfortunately, he was one of many students in that school who were overtly hostile, rude, and disrespectful. The atmosphere of the place was horrendous, more like a prison than a school (not that I would know... I'm drawing upon my imagination here, but you get the idea).

Thank goodness I left... I'm now in Vietnam, getting my pale ass burnt to a crisp as I wait to begin my CELTA course.

Whew, venting accomplished. Good topic, OP Smile

One kid I had last year was... special

He can't handle being in (any) class. Usually he'd come in and draw, or pick his nose, scratch his nether regions, and then come to MY COMPUTER AND TURN OFF MY GOOGLE CHROME!! That was the last straw Laughing

I got his brother now, the complete opposite. His brother is happy to see me, is quiet, and has friends Cool

Sometimes the apple falls far from the tree

This is quite a slippery topic, as it could bring posts ridiculing students with special needs.
As for students that are freaky in the "other" meaning, I've had a lot of first-grade middle school students this year tell me that they like watching "Japanese hot videos" - and they were girls.
Not much you can do but smile and laugh a little there. They know it's funny, but I can't believe how young they are watching porn.

Also in my old job the boss' kid was a little cassanova, and a year younger than everyone else in the class. He was 6.
On peppero day him and his "girlfriend" (another 6 year old in a class of 7 year olds) showed me the peppero kiss - think lady and the tramp, but not with spaghetti.
It was totally cute.

I was surprised to know my 2nd grade middle school students even knew about porn. I have an advanced conversation class, and we were talking about our favorite things. One girl really likes Pokemon, so the other kids were calling her Pokemon Otaku... One boy said she likes Pikachu Porn... (By the way, that kid is a Dr. Who otaku, but nobody made porn jokes about that)

I just think of my advanced kids as being so pure and stuff, but I guess I knew about porn at that age.

I don't think I have any one kid who's actually "freaky", although I saw 2 boys pretending to breast feed eachother once. Oh, and when the boys doggy pile 3 into a chair... geez.. it's kind of weird.
