So can we ask this question?
Is it appropriate to ask this question on a forum that is rationaled around Korea?
Maybe if someone answers yes, to this question while they are living in America should then compare it to Korea and their incompetence and then justify that the incompetence perpetuated by Americans plays up to the incompetence of Korea.
We are living in a culture that looks at normalicy different to our respecitve home countries. The point of this site is the question why our host country does something and applies it into their culture and society.ur a place to ask and bitch about things that effect our lives.
Thast is all it people |

If I were you, I'd simply thank the American hegemony for allowing me to work in a foreign country, just because my country speaks the same language as the current world superpower. The only superpower.
Brush up on your Chinese if you like- that'll probably be the next world power. And can bring back the good ol' days, when the USSR and the US of A were at odds. But for now, just say thank you, and be on your way. |

I'm an American and I've had all of the entitled and elitist attitude in your posts that I can stand.
No one is impressed. You are just coming across as immature and obnoxious. Get off your high horse and pick another movie quote.
Of course, you could be a troll. If so, pretend that I completely ignored you. |

thank you for the compliment.... I'm sick of those who think they can trash the US of A at their leisure.
Maybe England was the [Mod Edit] 200... maybe even 100 years ago. but there's a new country sheparding this world.
and if you're a countryman, it's time to accept that fact. And not put up with the yahoos who blast it at their leisure.
Jingoistic fervor? Sure, why not... ya gotta maintain the allure if ya want to be King of the Hill! |

Mr Rogers. I think you missed what I was trying to put across. (probably didn't make it clear).
The point was that a post gets put up about Korea - something is done or said in this country and we scratch our heads, we say why - then someone comes on and compares it to America and says how America is worse.
What I was trying to say is that when a discussion occurs on this site, why does someone have to inject the comparison of America. That was the reason why a made a scenario in reverse. |

Well the reason I do it is that a comparison is either explicitly or implicitly done in those posts. As someone from America the easiest comparison for me is to compare it to America.
Also since American culture and its situation is at least somewhat familiar to people round the world, thanks to the media, it provides a quick way for people to go "oh that's the Korean version of this human quirk I am familiar with"
And as the poster above demonstrates, a fair number of people see the U.S. as 'King of the Hill' so if they are bashing Korea for something and King of the Hill does the same thing, or worse, then in theory that should give said basher some pause.
My question is why do people who make explicit or implicit comparisons of Korea in their posts then get so bent out of shape when Korea is compared to another country and that country is not portrayed in a favorable light? Said people seem to expect that the 'discussion' should be them listing the flaws of Korea and then having them accepted as gospel truth. What is most ironic about this is said people often express frustration with the Korean method of having some head honcho explain things and everyone just nodding along in agreement and a lack of argumentation in the whole process as well as saying things like "Koreans don't handle criticism well" or so on.
But to reiterate while I do try to 'win' the argument, perhaps too much so, I hope that at least in part the comparisons are done so we realize that rather than being so different, people round the world are basically the same, things just take on different shapes. |

Doesnt make me want to rage, I just fear for the future with America having so much power.
Chances are we will have World war 3 within the next 40 years as the oil get terribly low and we still havent found a replacement.
And I fear whats going to happen when the food supply can't keep up ( not that this is just an America problem, practically every government can share the blame for not limiting population)
America has a badly run government system and it cares little about the welfare of other countries ( when it doesnt serve their purposes) so I fear how that will play out over the next 50 year I will be alive
But want to rage about it, nah, it would solve nothing.
I just hope i don't have to do the " I told you so" too much in the future. |
