They are the most ( in many cases) a half truth or part of the truth

In which case, by definition, they are no longer facts.

yet they are labelled or passed off as facts.

Last I checked they were still teaching that columbus "discovered" America.

Some"facts" are in fact subjectives, or totally one sided on a bigger broader issue.

Also why can't a half truth be ""factual" I can think of many news storie alone where they were giving like 1 "fact" out of say 40 that were not known. That first fact seemed to be quite insignificant when forming a decision on the rest of the issue. That fact was still a fact, but when compared to the other infomration it was an insignificant fact that in no way told the whole story.

Who teaches that Columbus discovered America? I wasn't taught that, and I'm American who went to public school. I always dressed like a pirate on Columbus day. Laughing

perhaps they tell this to the yonger children and then correct the fact in secondary school and point out that there were a lot of asian people who "discovered" it centuries before Smile

Or perhaps I was wrong and used a bad fact to make my point Smile
