Anyone notice the pride level has diminished a bit this morning? What are your observations?

I lost a bet. I had my money on Argentina 3/Korea 0. I wasn't too far off.

They seem a little sad. But, so far, nothing out of the ordinary.

Most Koreans aren't delusional. THey know Argentina is a favorite and the game was going to be tough. I would say a loss was expected. Maybe not a 4-1 trouncing but a loss was expected nevertheless.

a draw against Nigeria should see them through. Argentina will be expected to beat greece.

It's still in Korea's hands. I am optimistic of their qualification as long as they keep their heads up for the Nigeria game.

i won a bet for choosing the correct score 4-1. The koreans i was watching the game with were complaining that every goal Argentina made was illegal (offsides usually). Why can't people just admit that they aren't as good? (rhetorical)

They didn't really expect to win. And they're happy Greece beat Nigeria.

Nigeria lost two in a row....they are hungry and the chances of losing three in a row are slim....but they might.....

I get the feeling that my co-workers didn't really understand just how good Argentina are. At the risk of sounding a bit sexist, I can put this down to them being women with no real interest in the sport itself. Anyway, they all seem shell-shocked by the scoreline.
I watched the game with a few Korean lads who all follow football, and they weren't overly surprised by what they saw. They all know that the Argentinian squad is stacked with first-class players.

Agreed. All the Koreans I spoke to who were into football anyway had expected a hard game and were expecting at the very best a draw, but more likely as narrow a defeat as possible.

Sure, there were plenty of people who don't know much about the game and are just getting behind their country in a big sporting event who were crazily overoptimistic. But that's the same in any country.

Given that with one game left, Korea have the best chance of the 3 teams vying for the 2nd qualifying spot, their previously stated target of reaching the last 16 was a pretty reasonable and realistic one, whether they actually make it or not.

One of my elementary students came to school today sporting an Argentina jersey. I had to give him props for his bravery!
