Funny you should say that. My friend earlier tonight was saying he reads a grammar book to get to sleep. He recommended it to students and some said that it worked for them!
Some sleepy time tea works if you have any.... |

Reading would be a good idea, but unfortunately I don't have a lamp in my apartment yet, so I would have to turn on the overhead halogen light. No sleepy time tea either. Maybe I need to find something boring yet soothing to watch. |

| I too noticed that it's hard to sleep many nights. I get to sleep most nights by 1:30 or 2:00, but having to get up at 7:00 is a failed nights rest. Especially so if you can't get rest due to lots of loud talking drunks, dogs barking, and young couples arguing in the wee hours. I feel uneasy at night like I'm anxious to get going with my life, leave Korea, and go do something where I actually fit in and feel wanted for the person I am. I would encourage almost anyone to travel, but 1 year is a bit long to stay put in Korea in a tiny apartment to teach for a school whose staff can't yet embrace diversity while the community around you is prejudiced, bigoted, and won't associate with you in any way that makes sense nor even have any common courtesy respects. I'm getting uneasy and thinking about it a lot many nights to get a career going on, have a place where I fit in and don't feel like a minority with limited rights. I do in fact wish to live in a Western country, but travel to Asia for much shorter stints than this. |

I rant and rave like a madman and sleep like a baby,
You are perfect and sensible in your posts and you have insomnia.
No justice in this life I tell you |

| I daydream. The best way to fall asleep is to forget that you're trying. Whatever you do, do not think about your real life. That isn't daydreaming. |

Benadryl works.
Or, you could go to a doctor and get a prescription for Xanax. It's commonly prescribed here. It's also good for anxiety. |

I turn on tooniverse and watch the simpsons and set the tv sleep timer....
I also have no lamp in my house, but reading used to do the trick back at home...
Apparently if you sleep with your computer on the blue light (on light) is very disruptive to your sleep |

Oh no, do you get insomnia frequently? Then maybe you should seek a prescription. I get it from time to time, but mostly if I've been kind of stupid (drinking booze pretty much at all, or coffee after 1 PM).
When my sleep sched is out of wack, I do take a Nytol type pill, which I hope I can find at the yak. I'm down to my last pill... finally used up my supply from Canada. |

Serious? Xanax is commonly prescribed? How about Ambian or Lunesta? |

| Avoid spending too much time in your bed. Reserve it for sleeping and sex. Find somewhere else to watch TV. Hopefully your mind will come to associate your bed with sleep. |

| Not sure about those others. You have to request Xanax, though. There are some they like to give instead. I've had bad hive reactions from sleep meds, and xanax seems to do well. I don't use it every night, though. |

This is a good one. I've just started swimming after work... I sleep like a baby now. |
