America has a badly run government system and it cares little about the welfare of other countries ( when it doesnt serve their purposes) |
I guess considering this is the Korean forum I should ask how did the Korean War fit into that mold? Nobody knew anything about Korea or actually cared except Truman. And also there was the Phillipine invasion during World War II, no strategic importance non whatsoever, just the Japanese were killing Phillipinos left and right. Also was Somalia anything to US interests other than people were starving and the US thought it could help the problem out by stabilizing the country |
I don't think Truman went in out of any altruism for Korea, in other circumstances I doubt if he could have cared less. It seems more like fighting Communism and America's role at the forefront of the Cold War. Also given the tolerance for military dictatorships subsequently in South Korea after the war, I think Cold War realpolitik leaves any interest in Korean welfare far behind. |
