Alright, I just have a question. I'm part of EPIK and I have two camps during the end of July at other schools--both of which I know about and am fine with.

However, the other day my coteacher informed me that aside from the time that I'm taking a vacation my school is expecting me to fulfill 22 hours of "camps"(but not real camps, more like "after school programs" without school actually happening before hand) during August. I'm a little flabbergasted as they first were going to have a camp at the designated time, then decided they weren't due to money issues, and now they want me to do that all of August and are hounding me to chose my vacation time.

I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Schools can do this if they want. It's becoming more frequent lately. Just make sure that they know that you may have to miss regular class days to take your vacation.

Yeah, I'm doing 22 hours of after school thingy during my vacation too. I gave up my 4 weeks of vacation and decided to teach their after school program as my co-teacher demanded it from me. No extra pay of course.

I will take 4 extra weeks of vacation during winter though. Razz

Be very careful doing this. Your school could "forget" that you taught that or say it's impossible or whatever and you'd be potentially screwed. Get it in writing if possible.

This is highly risky.

Good luck.
