Hello,

I am leaving in 3 weeks. It has been a wonderful year in Korea and my motorcycle has made it even better!

This is a Daelim Day Star cruiser 125 cc. I think the model is VS125.

It has a back rest for the second seat attached to a turtle shell style storage.

It is mostly black and chrome color.

Here is a picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43358757@N02/4705880301/

It has some minor scratches and wear.

It runs great! I rode it all over KangwonDo.... Up tons of mountains and well, just all over!

I changed the battery when I bought it, changed the oil a few times and had them lubricate the chain. That's about it. It has run fine since I bought it.

The title paper stated that it was a 1999 with 5000 km when I bought it in October. It looks much newer than 1999, but I do not think it is possible it only had 5000 km. I was told to buy the bike if it liked good, rode good, and the price was right.

It looks good, it rides good, the price is right!

The price is 700,000 won. The price is not negotiable. I can sell it to a local shop for a little less than that and they will sell it for substantially more. I have a feeling they would change the title again Sad

The bike currently states 8004 km. I have rode it 3000 km over the past year (over 4 months. It was in my schools garage from November to March)

Thank you for your interest.

No, you do not need any license for this bike!

Not true. You absolutely do need a standard Korean driver's license (unless you have an International), but not a motorcycle license. I do, however, know plenty of people who drive without one.

I have registered, put a license plate, and bought insurance for this bike. My coteacher told me I did not need a license and I have never been asked for 1, despite all the official dealings.

It is possible I have been mistaken, that a license is required but is simply never asked for.

I read countless blogs that state a license is not required, but I can not find any information from a Korean government website.

Please link your reply with an official website.

Thank you

It's pretty common knowledge that for anything up to 125cc, you need a typical automobile license. Over 125cc, you need a motorcycle license. A simple google search will provide you with plenty evidence of this. Heck, there's even a sticky thread in the General Discussion Forum that states the same thing.

This site does a pretty good job of breaking down what kind of license you need for each type of vehicle: http://www.bsmeditour.go.kr/eng/cms/155_245_246.jsp?mid=246

From the same site: http://www.bsmeditour.go.kr/eng/cms/155_245_248.jsp?mid=248
"Details on motorcycles, by type

* No separate license is needed to ride a motorcycle with an engine size of 125cc or below.
* Motorcycles with small-sized engines are permitted on the road, as long as the rider has an ordinary drivers license of either Type 1 or 2.
* In order to operate a motorcycle with an engine size larger than 125cc, a Type 2 Korean drivers license is required.

Like I said, there are plenty of people who are driving sans license with no problem, but the penalty if you're caught is a fine up to 3mil Won.

Your bike is actually a Daelim Daystar. First made in 1999. Same engine as the Daelim Roadwin.
