This might be a silly question, but...
I'm leaving for Korea in a few weeks, and I have a friend who was there last year who said that she couldn't get her laptop to connect to any of the wireless internet. She said she thought her laptop just wasn't set up to use foreign internet or something. Neither of us knows very much about computers, though. So, is that even possible? Have any of you had problems with wireless connections? Should I be worried about it? I'll be in Seoul, so I know there won't be any shortage of wifi, I'm just worried I won't be able to use it for some reason. |

LOL.. sorry had to get it out of my system first. If she had problems connecting to some wifi was either her wifi was broken or she was trying to get into a secure connection with a password.
There are many wifi hot spots in Seoul, especially in coffee shops like Starbucks, TomNToms, etc.
Korea is "I think" number one in internet connection speed in the world |

I used a Holly's coffee WiFi for free often during my 1st month due to having to wait for my alien card 5 weeks to allow me to get service turned on. It also allowed me a phone using Skype. Holly's is a Korean version of Starbucks. |

Did you have to purchase a drink in order the WiFi? Here they charge you for internet, even in Starbucks. |

I would advise that you ensure that your wifi is turned on and enabled BEFORE you get on the plane.
The technology is the same (globally) but getting assistance to make sure it is turned on and enabled (if you are not currently using it) may be difficult for a newbie to get when they land here.
There are lots of places with free wifi and most large apartment complexes have many unsecured wifi connections/networks that you can "attach yourself to" until you get your own internet connection.
