| Korea is in good shape. Argentina must give an effort against Greece because if the Argies lose they lose the group. If Argentina goes for the tie then all Korea needs is a tie and they move on. |

Why? I'm no wc expert, but it seems if they win, they will have three points as will Korea. Greece will also have three points if they lose to Argentina. So, there would be three-way tie that would have to be broken by goal differential, I think. Now, if greece were to lose to Argentina, their goal differential would be lower than its current -1.
If Korea were to lose to Nigeria, its goal differential would be lower than its current -1
If Nigeria were to beat Korea, its goal differential would be higher than its current -2.
Maybe I'm missing something. I'm not a soccer fan by any stretch.

FIFA World Cup Tie Breaker Rules
The official 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa regulations come to the rescue. Article 39, no. 5, reads:
The ranking of each team in each group will be determined as follows:
a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches;
b) goal difference in all group matches;
c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings will be determined as follows:
d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned;
e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned;
g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.
In other words, if the points are the same, and both goal difference and scored goals are the same, they resort to how the two or more tied teams fared only in their games against each other. And if all else fails, the order will be drawn from a hat |

They'd be better awarding points from the qualifying games. |

So basically if Korea and Greece finish tied, with the same goal difference and record...Korea goes through because they beat Greece 2-0. |

| What do you think? I'm changing my earlier prediction and going with an upset and say Korea wins 2-1. Maybe I'm just gullible to whatever Park Ji Sung says or their coach says, but when Koreans really put their minds to something, they generally get it done. |
Hey Kiwi, I am going with 4 -1 for Argentina
Damm, are we talking about the next game? |

| My predictions for that match pretty much illustrate that I don't know <you know what> about soccer. Just as well though. |

If Argentina beats Greece and Nigeria beats Korea, then Argentina and Nigeria will qualify for round 2.
I've got a feeling Nigeria will get the job done.
My prediction....Nigeria 2 South Korea 0.  |

Hey Homer, I just got warned by the mods for doing exactly what you did.
But you're a hypocrite. Now you're the one trolling. |

After watching the dismal England performance against Algeria, I can't find any reason to knock Korea. At least they played with some passion and put up a fight against much better opposition. If England had even half of that spirit, I'd be happy.
I made a bet with my missus on who would get further in the competition, England or South Korea. On one hand, I don't want to lose the bet, but at the same time I have to admit Korea deserve it much more. |

Not trolling at all....and if the mods wish to remove this, I have no problem with it.
It was a JOKE....but hey humour is subjective.
You got warned by the mods (I think) for insulting someone personnally. What I did was not insulting offtheoche it was just joking around with his quote regarding the next match.
If that offended him/her, my apologies.
Feel better now Boho? |

Sadly they're looking very mediocre. Nothing like as great as their '94 or '98 sides. If anyone remembers..they had a Fifa ranking of 5th in 1994... and also an olympic gold medal somewhere along the way. |

I wasn't insulted in the least. In fact I had a little chuckle to myself....because you did interpret my post very well!
