Hi,

I was looking at the pay/promotion structures for EPIK and SMOE last night. They both list things like:

"In addition to one of the requirements for Level G, ONE (1) full year of English teaching experience at accredited institutions."
or
"Meet the Level G qualification with at least TWO (2) full years of English teaching experience at accredited institutions."
or
"Bachelors degree in anything + 1 year full time teaching experience"

I'd like some clarification.
In those first 2 examples, what exactly is "English teaching experience"? Does that mean being an English teacher, or being any kind of teacher in an English-speaking school?

Second, what kinds of jobs can be counted as "teaching experience"? Is it specifically limited to primary or secondary teaching? Or, can it include things like pre-school teaching, being a university Teaching Assistant that runs the smaller group sessions, being the instructor of a post-secondary course, etc.?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Mr Bacon, I will assume your hope of including other work experience as teaching experience in order to bump your potential pay led you to post this thread... Laughing

Simply put: teaching experience is...well TEACHING experience. This means actual teaching experience that can be proven through references.

Being a TA would typically not count. Working at a pre-school (daycare) would also typically not count.

Teaching history in a High School would count however but possibly not as effectively as actual experience teaching English.

Good luck.
