Has anybody been to the Muju firefly festival? It is this week and the final day is Saturday. I quite fancy going along, but don't know much about it. Has anyone been before? If so, would you recommend it? It will take me a few hours to travel there, so trying to decide if it will be worth it! My co-workers haven't heard of, but it seems to be quite popular on the internet.
If you have been, are there places to stay nearby? My last bus leaves just as it gets dark!
THanks! xx |

I was there a couple years ago, and honestly it's not much. There weren't any fireflies, and people have said it's hit or miss depending on weather. It was a pain in the ass to get to from Gwangju, and it was a pain in the ass to find a place to stay. Muju is a cute enough small town, if you've never experienced small towns before, but the firefly aspect of the festival was disappointing.
I've written the most about it, based on experience: http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2010/06/muju-firefly-festival-june-12th-20th.html |
