The Afghans think we're funding the Taliban to prolong the war in Afghanistan. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2010/may/25/afghans-believe-us-funding-taliban

Obama is Black and a leftist. No one on the alphabet channels is going to hold him to his word lest they be called right-wing racists. I think it's fair to say that all of us have suffered because of AA. As a result, we have this Negro...

Obama is, in terms of policy, by any reasonable measure identical to George W. Bush.

The lack of media coverage of soldiers funerals and similar is extremely vile. These pointless wars have destroyed so many lives.

No war is pointless.
Just because you disagree with the point, does not make it more or less valid.,

mises, who was the first one to tell you all about Georack O'Bushama? Oh, yeah, it was - me Exclamation

Anyway, why stop there? Bush's policy was identical to Clinton's which was identical to Bush's before him, to Carter's to Reagan's, etc. All that changes is the name of the Puppet-in-Chief.

US officials downplay July 2011 withdrawal from Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (AFP) US Defense Secretary Robert Gates rejected suggestions Sunday that US forces will move out of Afghanistan in large numbers in July of next year under a deadline set by President Barack Obama.

"That absolutely has not been decided," Gates said in an interview with Fox News Sunday.

No end in sight.

It's all purely a business decision. When they have somewhere else to "dig gold", they'll change the business plan.

In the debit column are the lost lives and the destroyed lives......

These wars make BP look like Snow White.

The Only Way Out of Afghanistan

Quote:
Here is the grim paradox of Americas involvement in Afghanistan: The darker things get and the more setbacks we suffer, the better the odds that well be staying there indefinitely.

Quote:
Why? Because of three considerations. First, the memory of 9/11, which ensures that any American president will be loath to preside over the Talibans return to power in Kabul. Second, the continued presence of Al Qaedas leadership in Pakistans northwest frontier, which makes it difficult for any American president to contemplate giving up the base for counterterrorism operations that Afghanistan affords. Third, the larger regions volatility: its the part of the world where the nightmare of nuclear-armed terrorists is most likely to become a reality, so no American president can afford to upset the balance of power by pulling out and leaving a security vacuum behind.

I think the dude might be right.

"complete waste of resources"

Really? What about all the metal resources that corps. from powerful nations will be able to pillage and extract from those available in Af?

The war in Afghanistan is strategic move towards a plethora of resources in the minds of the corp elite who run these govts.
