In the early eighties there was a peacenik punk band called Crass.
Their first album contained a tract called "Reality Asylum" which was a longlish Anti- Chrisitian rant. Even by todays standards it's pretty shocking.

Not particularly evil-sounding and rather tame compared with some people's picks, but I'd say 'Maiden's The Number of the Beast.

Not really evil though, you could've picked Seventh Son... or Powerslave for a better album.

Their new album should be out now, only heard El Dorado off it, it's okay, some like it, some don't, it's power metal-ish I suppose, bass could be more galloping...

Although I have all their stuff, I haven't been interested in Iron Maiden in a while. Seventh Son was their last stellar album. Fear of the Dark is half good. I actually like Bruce Dickinson's solo C.D.'s (Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding) a lot. Amazing works.

As far as evil . . . the only death metal CD I have is a greatest hits by Carcass. I hate the growling, but you gotta love the song titles - "Keep on Rotting in the Free World" and "Genital Grinder 2".

yup +1

Necrophagist would probably make you want to stop running, sit down to regulate your breathing, find the nearest stick and commence to blast Razz

I saw Neurosis live in 90 while shroomed and it was freaking amazing. No one was really moshing though they were just watching the video backdrops and the musicians.

Nice doom list! You left out Trouble and Pentagram though, even Cirith Ungol I'd say.

On a side note, for all you Maiden fans out there, there is actually an American equivalent, any tr00 metalhead will know them, but for those of you that don't, check out Manilla Road. Brilliant and classic really.

Do you have to spoil every thread with your three-chord punk rubbish? The OP asked for metal, go away with your old man music, please.

Uh, no. Would rather go the Godflesh route for industrial metal, thanks.

We're talking about metal music, sorry if you haven't caught on, but industrial noise is not required in this thread. At least recommend something like SunnO))) if you're going to shoot for that quasi-music, hell, even Darkspace would be cool.

Indeed. I also forgot to mention late 80s Voivod. Not particularly evil but moody.
