Captain Evra is trying to be a hero to his team-mates by rebelling against Domenech. In reality he's being a juvenile and letting down his country. Now we have the ridiculous scenario that some players might refuse to take the pitch!
Wake up guys its not about you. Its about representing your fans and your nation and putting aside your infighting.
Domenech failed to keep control of his team early on. Although its hard to blame him because once news leaked that he was going to lose his job he lost authority...
I hope hosts South Africa kick their a*ses tonight and draw back some cheer after their defeat to Uruguay. However I don't hold out much hope because they are virtually the lowest ranked team in the world cup and lack the skills of the french. |

He lost his authority because of all the crazy decisions he has made. In the 2006 world cup the players listened to Zidane instead of him, or so the story goes. I would feel pretty bad if I went from a club team managed by a competent manager and then go to my international team that is managed by a complete idiot.
What they should have done is have a team meeting, agree not to listen to a word Domenech said and just play their own way like in 2006. Probably nobody has Zidane's power however this time around.
Examples of crazy decisions was asking Florent Malouda to play defensive midfielder (he's never played there) and not picking Pires because he is a scorpio! that's right, the manager of an international team is a believer in astrology. |
