How many soft drinks do you drink? I just read that most people who have reached an advanced age (more than 90 to 100) do not drink soft drinks.
I've greatly reduced alcohol in my diet but a cola or a Mountain Dew here and there is something I enjoy. |

I never really liked carbonated drinks. One healthy thing you could try is cold barley tea.
Even I have a (semi flat) Coke once in a while, though. |

Yeah I have the same worries about it too. I'm about to enjoy a nice Chilsung Cider right now. I've tried to get myself more into fruit juices, those small bottles that you can buy in shops are quite nice. Though maybe they are full of added sugar/sweeteners/whatever and are just as unhealthy. |

i drank way too much coke growing up. it was just always stocked, always, in the house.
once i went to college i'd pretty much only drink it if i ate out. fast food eateries, sit down restaurants, taco shops, whatever.
now that i'm in korea, i hardly ever touch the stuff. maybe sometimes if i order pizza i'll get some coke as well. or when i go get fast food once every other week. it just isn't all over the place over here so i avoid it more easily. it really is just a bunch of empty calories, though.
now i wish i could cut down on the beer, though.
i'll admit, i have a soft spot for mccol, but i probably buy a bottle of that less than every two months. |

I don't drink soft drinks at all, outside of an occasional mixed drink. I drank them when I was younger, but between the loads of sugar and the caffeine, I no longer care to. Honestly, for the most part I simply drink water. |

Does anyone else get a weird sensation of having their teeth coated in syrup after drinking coke? That's why I don't drink it that often, unless I'm really hungover and need sugars.
I started drinking mineral water last summer. It satisfies my fizzy cravings. |

My parents only ever had diet soda, so I never developed a taste for the stuff. This is why I only have a coke every couple of months. It's great for an upset stomach!
Do you have a blender? Milk and a banana make an awesome smoothie. |

I used to be pretty damn overweight. One of the first things I eliminated was soda (I used to drank a can or 3 a day growing up)--I think without exercise, I lost about 20 pounds by eliminating that alone.
Soda's a killer. There's nothing good about it. I don't even enjoy the taste anymore.
Luckily, I'm down to 175lbs at 6'1" and can eat whatever I want! Still have an aversion to soda, though. It doesn't refresh me at all and I don't think it pairs well with most foods, either.
I find I enjoy water the most as I get older. Nothing beats good old h2o |

I find water or tea most satisfying, but I think I'll always be a little addicted to pop. I drink a Coke Zero most days. I'm the only one at my school who does. The first time I popped one open, my CT was like, "I thought you were into health!" A lot of people at home are like that too. They just didn't grow up with it for whatever reason, so they don't really get why it's special. I just love carbonation. I also use it as a sub for alcohol sometimes, which is ok because while I have felt compelled at (many) times to drink booze for hours straight, I've never felt compelled to drink 6 cans of coke all at once, for example. |

My girlfriend makes me this for breakfast, since I don't like solid meals in the morning outside of very specific things. Good source of potassium, quite filling, easy to drink while doing other things. It really is pretty awesome. |

Carbonated drinks make you age more rapidly due specifically to their phosphate content.
Fruit juices aren't as bad as sugary sodas, but they're nowhere near as healthy as one might assume. They contain vitamins and sugars but little else, as the juice has been separated from the pulp of the fruit and its numerous other nutritional properties. I drink fruit juices like there's no tomorrow, nevertheless.
The very healthiest drinks, if you want to live til you're 90 and upwards, are fresh coffee and green tea. Coffee wards off degenerative brain diseases in later life and to those who have fatty diets and/or are smokers - green tea is the drink for you. |

I don't drink so much any more, but I do probably drink one Korean sized can per day or two.
I drink the diet unless it's something with less sugar since I have the diabetes.
I'm sure diet coke is only slightly healthier than regular coke, but drinking 39g of sugar can't be that healthy.
I do find, however that soda/pop/soda pop is pretty enjoyable for one major reason. I am a pretty compulsive person, and I feel pretty antsy if I'm sitting and relaxing without smoking or drinking something. If I have something like tea or juice, it's gone pretty quickly. If I have a beer or a soda, the carbonation slows me down.
When I was a kid, my fridge was usually stocked with fresca. I loved that stuff. I would actually have dreams on a regular basis at the end of the week when it was all gone that I would wake up, walk to the fridge and see it filled with the stuff.
