I'm a light sleeper and the early sunrise is killing me cos my room gets really bright around 5 am. I have the kind of shades that roll down from the top using a loopy string kind of thing but they don't keep out any light.

What would you recommend I do to make my bedroom darker? I was thinking of buying some black material and sticking it to the back of the shades, but I have no idea where to find that sort of stuff. Any other bright (haha) ideas?

I bought black bin bags and stuck them on my windows. It really helped a lot.

I believe they sell automotive window tinting at Emart. I did that in an apartment back in the States and it worked like a charm.

I really don't know, but you have my sympathy. I had huge windows last year for a tiny apartment. The morning sun poured in. The blinds were no good, it even stayed light in my apartment at night. Your apartment will get really hot without aircon this summer.

On the plus side, it helps with heating in the winter.

my room was too light also so I ripped a bunch of pages out of a magazine and taped them up over the windows. When I actually want sunlight I just slide open one window open. It's worked for about 2 years now.

Lucky. Mine is way too dark. You can't do anything about that, short of rigging up a series of mirrors. Crying or Very sad

I did this as I'm an incredibly light sleeper. Works a treat.

Hi There,

Depending on how big your window is you might want to just replace the blind with a thicker one. Sounds like a pain but I shopped around and tested in the store. Eventually I found a blind that no light was getting through. It is a requisite that it fits the whole window too though.

The only other way as some have said is to layer up the back of the blind you have with black.
