I also enjoy cola. Sorry, I LOVE COLA!.

I only drink it on the weekends now. There is no reason to deny myself something I enjoy completely. I just don't indulge during the week.

Yes, I know it's a terrible drink full of junk. But we seem to enjoy so many things in life that are terrible for us.

I used to be pretty damn overweight. One of the first things I eliminated was soda (I used to drank a can or 3 a day growing up)--I think without exercise, I lost about 20 pounds by eliminating that alone.

Soda's a killer. There's nothing good about it. I don't even enjoy the taste anymore.

Luckily, I'm down to 175lbs at 6'1" and can eat whatever I want! Still have an aversion to soda, though. It doesn't refresh me at all and I don't think it pairs well with most foods, either.

I find I enjoy water the most as I get older. Nothing beats good old h2o

THIS!!

Studies have shown that carbonated soft drinks are a/the leading cause in the obesity epidemic over the last 40 years. Eliminate or greatly reduce it from your diet and you will give yourself a big head start in maintaining a healthy weight.

Coke is just carbonated, caramelized, caffeinated, sugar water. Why does an adult need that crap anyway? To me there are a lot of other much tastier temptations to cave in for. Give your self an easy win, and splurge on better stuff, like a good import beer, as I do.

I've heard there is no bigger pain in the ass than a new convert, and that described me perfectly when I first went on my anti-refined sugar kick about ten years ago. A good book to read on the topic is Sugar Blues. Read that and yours eyes may be opened.

So, Bloopity Bloop, as a fellow convert I must say, you are telling Noah about the flood.

My girlfriend makes me this for breakfast, since I don't like solid meals in the morning outside of very specific things. Good source of potassium, quite filling, easy to drink while doing other things. It really is pretty awesome.

Urrrghhh, Now I need to spend more money to buy a blender.

Buy the blender! You can also make hummus and strawberry banana milkshakes. Lots else I guess but that's what I make. As for pop, I put it in the same box as smoking. Does lots of harm and no good... by good I mean a disordering of the senses. I prefer my vices to have more tangible results.

I also sometimes use frozen blueberries instead of a banana, which is fantastic in the summer. I've found them at costco and in Itaewon. They're farmed, but organic, so it's fairly healthy.

+1 Twisted Evil

My one weakness is a daily cup of milk tea with honey. The honey's at least a natural, barely-refined sugar.

Sector 7G- my hubby read a book I suspect is very similar, Sweet Poison by a guy named Gallespie (David?). It convinced him of what I had been telling him about sugar and pop and stuff. I went no sugar a few years ago and lost 25 pounds in 1 summer with no added exercise (I just walk, as I enjoy it). So, we recently started no sugar again.

The first time, I drank a lot of soft drink, so I switch to plain carbonated water and I add lemon or a cut strawberry or fresh mint or something. I now love having my water like this. I found it so much easier to get off soft drink like that because I craved the fizziness of the water.

Yes, carbonated water is good. I forgot about mixing it with fresh strawberry... delicious.

I also like iced decaf in the evenings. I managed to find plain instant decaf, but I also have decaf coffee mix-uh, which isn't so great for you, but 50 cals really isn't so terrible for a dessert either.

I never got the whole soda thing.

I guess I understand drinking a can every week or so if you like the taste, but the people who drink buckets of it every day? Very odd.

I think I have a bit of a physical disability though which works in my advantage. I don't find any drink except water thirst quenching. Other drinks just taste nice (or not), but I really need a water alongside them.

I think the worst people in the world, apart from genocidists, are those idiots who say "Oh.. I can't drink water..". They really annoy me for the wrongness of their statement. It's just ridiculous. I plan on kidnapping half a dozen of them, chartering a jet to a desert somewhere, then dropping them in. I'll come to their rescue about 12 hours later then say, "Sorry, I'm afraid I only have water..." as they gasp for their last. I bet they'll learn to drink water then.

Pre-empt: Water has no taste? Yeah, if you drink the distilled water that's supposed to be in your car. Otherwise it is delicious.

I have also developed this "disability". I just can't seem to be refreshed with other drinks. Even after a workout, a Gatorade just won't cut it. I think it's something to do with the sugar. Drinks other than water simply leave a taste in your mouth or keep your mouth sticky. Gulping down water is the only solution for me.

Agreed on water being the best thirst quencher. I do, however, enjoy cold barley tea in the summer to change it up a little. It's quite refreshing, though by no means a post-gym choice.

I've been tempted a few times to search your post history for 'barley'. I think it's seriously in every other one of your posts Laughing

Not a bad thing, just sayin' Razz

I drink a lot of water. It does quench my thirst the best. Not only that, but I've got a general policy of not drinking my calories. Sure, I'll break it now and then. I like juices, smoothies, and the occasional soda, but whole fruits and vegetables are almost always better for you.

Having said that...I'm a coffee addict. I change up the way that I drink it from time to time. Lately, I enjoy it iced, no sugar. I'll occasionally enjoy a cappucino. I hate when Korean coffee shops "decorate" it with cinnamon.

I almost always only drink water. Sometimes coffee or a (watered-down OJ)

Soft drinks tear my throat up something fierce. Fine when I was younger, now I can't drink them at all and haven't for years.
