Pentaport Rock Festival - in July
Hoobastank will be there.. more line-up to come

Jisan Valley Rock Festival - last 2 days of July and 1 August
Muse, Massive Attack, Vampire Weekend, Belle and Sebastian, Petshop Boys, Third Eye Blind.. to name a few.. more line up to come

Busan Beach Rock Festival -
Don't have a line-up just yet...

Also, theres talk of a Woodstock DMZ festival but all the talk and line-up I found online is just too good to be true. If you have info on this and/or are planning on going, post it here..

Info on all of these can be found on Google. The main concert site I use for Korea is temporarily down... Sad

http://woodstock.or.kr/

Am pretty sure that this is the official site for the DMZ festival this year... as you can see, the line up isn't as good as the rumoured one. Smile

I'll probably go to Pentaport. Have been there 3 times before, and it was pretty great in 2006 and 2007. Not impressed with the line-up this year, but it is going to be ten or fifteen minutes away from my apartment... so I wouldn't be going out of my way.

I love Muse, but I've seen them before, and I don't know if I could be bothered going all the way down to Yongin for just one night right in the middle of the summer camp... still undecided actually. Boredom might make me buy a ticket.

Hoobastank, really? Rolling Eyes

I'm going to Pentaport just to see LCD Soundsystem. They (or rather, James Murphy) put on one of the best shows of any band out there today. Really, really looking forward to that.

As to Jisan...I'd like to go, and last year was fun...but I'd rather have 3 more days of vacation so I'm skipping it. Spain > Muse.

I saw Fallout Boy, Jimmy Eat World, and Weezer last year at Jisan Valley.
All the bands posted on the website are verified, so far. Hopefully they will pull MORE across the pond from the Japan Rock festivals. Theres still time....

Thinking about Jisan, none of the bands really have the appeal of what they had last year though. But another weekend of beer and New York Hotdog would be grand

Whatever happened to the listing for Pentaport including Stereophonics?
I know LCD Soundsystem are great and I'd really enjoy seeing them, but for me the drawcard is really only that Welsh band. They were listed on different nights on different pages of the Pentaport website before, so it seemed strange, kind of like their being omitted from the listings above... I hope they're still up for it; or is it just that no-one who wrote the lists above knows of them..?!

The Busan festival is fun but it's probably better to take a taxi to Dadepo Beach. I took the bus once and it felt like hours were going by.

"Who's" going? I am. To Valley Rock Fest.

Can't miss a chance to see Belle and Sebby again. Plus Vampire Weeekend. And Massive Attack. And more.

They have some nice Korean bands on the line up too. Apollo 18, 3rd Line Butterfly, Galaxy Express, and the Moonshiners and may others that may change my opinion of Korean pop music.

The other festivals just don't have the bands to draw me in. Except for maybe U.N.K.L.E. Seems like 90K is a bit much just to see one or two good bands.

I wanted to go to Jisan, but I have to work on Friday, and without Friday's lineup I think it might be too expensive for too little gain after that. They don't quite have the lineup, and the transportation will add up for me too (in the south, not Seoul)

My Korean friend couldn't believe the cost of the tickets, I had to show her the website for her to think I wasn't mistaken. I think they might be trading off the fact foreigners are use to expensive festival tickets at home.

I will probably go to Busan. Even if they don't have any bands I've heard of at least I won't feel scalped by the tickets and I can go to the beach.

Meh. Does your Korean friend know anything about real (non-industry-manufactured) music, either local or international?

I paid what now seems an embarrassing amount last year to see Seo Taiji 'in concert.' It was more than the price of one day at either of the big two festivals, and he played very few songs, and spent the rest of the time blabbing to his local teenage fans about regional accents and all sorts of inane nonsense.

The only 'real' music concert was from the two completely anonymous bands who both played their guts out and rocked our ears off as a curtain raiser. A student told me later one of them was Pia, who are playing on Saturday at Pentaport. I'd like to see them again.
