The city of Ulsan will hold their annual whale festival next week, from July 1st through July 4th.

More links and commentary: http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2010/06/ulsan-whale-festival-july-1st-4th.html

Plenty of whale restaurants there, if you want to try something new (but plenty of people have said it tastes bad).

I thought that was where all the foreign female English teachers get together for the Korean version of their Lillith Fair.

'Whale Zome: Opening ceremony, Firework' It better be a damn good, preferably whale-shaped firework, or I'll be disappointed.

Lillith fair is possibly the most boring sounding thing I've ever been unfortunate enough to be aware of.

Seriously, comments like this show just how sad the Dave's crowd can get.

If insults are fair game, then this should be far more mean-

You have the maturity level of a six year old. Really you do.

Yeah it's not funny, but it's true.

Wow. I thought I was single because I am just a fat, ugly, poorly-dressed English teacher, but this reminded me it's actually because so many men here think this is funny. I'd rather be a nun than hang out with guys like this.

Whaling is illegal in Korea. Sure doesn't stop them from "accidentally" catching hundreds of them in a vast web of driftnets.

Korea has the largest "bycatch" of Whales in the world. I think they better sort it out before they go pointing fingers at Japan.

Meanwhile they run whale-watching tours from the same town. Hardly surprising then that they hardly ever spot one of these poor creatures. Rolling Eyes

I went home for eight months, ate yummy things while out with friends and/or on dates with nice guys and as a result, I gained a few pounds. I've been exercising and slowly taking off the weight, but given that the dating pool for women my age is filled with fat guys who think these kinds of jokes are funny, I must be doing this for my health.

I dunno what all this woman bitching is about... I don't even get the joke. all this has done is highlighted to me how I was right to insist on remaining single for as long a future as I can see.
