I'm in the minority here for sure then as I drink just under two liters of Coke a day, from morning to night (unless I drink alcohol) and have been doing so since I was a kid.
I'm in my thirties now and have felt no ill effects, I'm still thin and slightly underweight for my height and my teeth haven't fallen out. I hate water though and can't bring myself to drink it as, like rice, it's too dull.
I do however drink less Coke during cold weather, but it's still a daily thing. Can't say I get actual cravings for it, I just really enjoy the taste and the fizz on my gums. |

| Agreed on water being the best thirst quencher. I do, however, enjoy cold barley tea in the summer to change it up a little. It's quite refreshing, though by no means a post-gym choice. |
I've been tempted a few times to search your post history for 'barley'. I think it's seriously in every other one of your posts
Not a bad thing, just sayin' |
Maybe every 10th or 20th post, Bloopmaster The stuff's yummy!
PS Barley |

I used to be big on soft drinks, so I ended up getting a soda syphon and gas chargers. I did the math first and it came out cheaper than buying soda or even carbonated water. Then I pressed oranges or extracted juice from other fruits in different ways and had better soft drinks than any on the market without having to add any sugar. I don't know how feasible that would be in Korea, but I imagine it's doable. I believe there are recipes for homemade cola and root beer, etc on the net as well. You can be pretty creative once you have a syphon and gas.
Note: Caught my typo...it's syphon, not siphon

| Do you have a blender? Milk and a banana make an awesome smoothie. |
My girlfriend makes me this for breakfast, since I don't like solid meals in the morning outside of very specific things. Good source of potassium, quite filling, easy to drink while doing other things. It really is pretty awesome. |
Urrrghhh, Now I need to spend more money to buy a blender. |
Buy the blender! You can also make hummus and strawberry banana milkshakes. Lots else I guess but that's what I make. As for pop, I put it in the same box as smoking. Does lots of harm and no good... by good I mean a disordering of the senses. I prefer my vices to have more tangible results. |
Done. Got one on a whim on the way home. mmmm all I need now is the fruit. |

I've always been dumbfounded when someone says they don't drink water, usually because of the taste...
I don't understand how anyone who's taken a nutrition class can continue to eat and drink what they do. I feel less guilty about drinking a bottle of wine in a night than if I were to drink soda daily and eat Combos (the snacks) and ramen noodles for lunch. After raiding my parents' kitchen, I'm also surprised how many name brands still use trans fats.
Like someone else said, drinking soda rips up my throat. When I was a kid I had to swish it in my mouth a while before I could swallow it (sounds gross, I know), but it seriously burned to drink soda. I think that's part of the reason I've decided it's horrible.
Also, I've noticed just upping the intake of fresh veggies and fruits will supply you with tons of water, thus also allowing you to drink less of the lifeless water in bottles. |

No worries buddy, I'm 'always dumbfounded' by people that believe each and every medical report about the most inane things.
So what, I don't like water, I can drink it from the tap here too, I just don't like it. I don't eat fruit either, ZOMG! Best to crucify me and people of my ilk and be done with it then, god forbid people actually have different tastes or lifestyles. |

Metalhead,
Didn't wanna condemn a lifestyle... I've been kind of anal about health lately. I should probably relax on it. I agree with you about annoying breaking news on health statements, one site says X will cure frequent urination and another site says X will cause prostate cancer... |

| Many people aren't aware, as obvious as it is when you become aware, that water is entirely tasteless. Also It's very chemically reactive and dangerous, potentially. |

No worries, it's all personal choice at the end of the day, and I would like to eat fruit, it just makes me feel like vomiting, would be great if I enjoyed water too, would be saving money at least.
As I mentioned, drinking a lot of Coke each day has no effect on me, stuff like KFC and Burger King definitely does, feels like a punch in the chest if I eat that, whereas a lot of people my age have no effects from it - I think it's all down to luck of the draw, depending on what one's definition of luck is. |

This is almost like saying most 100 year olds haven't used the internet.
Back when these people were young, Coca-Cola still contained cocaine! |

Considering that most of the human body is water I would bet a year's pay that these chemical reactions are pretty much benign. Dangerous? Only if you drink it unfiltered or too much of it. |

I'll have the odd coke zero, usually after a salty korean meal like chamchi jigae.
I pound the green tea in the mornings, and as I'm at the gym at least 4 nights a week, that's incentive enough not to drink most things loaded up with sugar-although chocolate milk has a lot more appeal since almost eliminating beer. |
