I did Hong-do a few years back. The girlfriend and I climbed over a hill to a deserted spot where we set up the tent for a couple of days. Jumping off rocks into the sea punctuating hours of poetic nothingness. The only people we saw there were on boats going by.

Imjado in the same county is really good-- take a look at that beach pic. You can find a quiet spot in the trees for freecamping, and I'm pretty sure there's still an 'organized' camping ground about 150 meters off the beach, too.

muuido? seriously? it's full of people and families and the swimming sucks. i see people recommending it but i wonder if it's only well-visited because it's so close to seoul.

i just went on an amazing camping trip on a deserted island with a fellow named William of this group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=108698559171327

you might be able to get the info off of him. the island's called Sa Seung Bong Do. if you can make it, it's well worth the trip. It's got beautiful sandy beaches, rocky bluffs, foresty wanderings, and the water's got bioluminescent plankton in, so it glows at night.

It maybe obvious, but Jeju?! Best island in Korea for sure.

I went to DokJokdo (sp?) and it was pretty crappy. But, I guess a lot cheaper than Jeju.

Fun journey- taking the boat from Incheon to Jeju can be quite fun with a few friends and some soju.

One question OP forgot to ask... at any rate, one that I want to ask! Wink

How do you reach all those islands? Bus + Ferry / Car + Ferry / Bit of swimming! Laughing
