I got one done a few months back. They are pricey though. But bargain if you think you can get away with it. I got a small piece on my upper right arm and since it was small and fairly simple I bargained 50k won of the price.

a friend of mine recently opened a shop around mapo. he's a korean guy i met in bangkok, when i was living there, who speaks english very well. he studied under one of the top 2 tattoo dudes in thailand (eak. if you have spent time in bangkok, you will see tons of shops called "eak" or "tattoo by eak." he's not affiliated with those shops, they are using his name because he is very well known. i think the other top dude is named jimmy wong or something of the like. forget)
anyway... i will contact him and post a number and location. i'll try to get a link to his portfolio.

Vincent Tattoo is a great spot. The guy is a plastic surgeon who decided to get into tattooing as a hobby. Very meticulous and as clean as a doctor's clinic. He also does removal.

Highly recommended.

Tatto Korea is a good shop, but go into it a bit cautious. I-roc is a good guy, but he is also a bit of a hustler. I got a quarter sleeve done there and it took just over three months to finish. In that time I listened to him spew the same lines to countless customers, bull shit people about designs that were being worked on when the weren't and generally tell people whatever they wanted to hear in order to get them into his shop. They were also expensive and disorganized. I had appointments cancelled and pushed back and spent more time waiting around the shop to get started than I actually did in the chair getting tattooed. Bring a book and some music cause you won't spend less than six hours in there for every sitting.

All that being said, I'm pretty happy with the work I got done. It's big and colorful and I can almost guarantee nobody else has the same piece as I do. My tattoo kind of sums up my whole Korean experience in that while I don't regret it at all, there were things I should have planned better and might have done differently if given another chance.

I echo the Tattoo Korea recommendation. I've done a bit of waiting there myself (I kind-of agree with tyrobinson), but once you're on the chair they do good work. I'm not sure with the pricing as this is my first piece done by them and its a large piece vs the smalls one I do have. Either way they do quality work.

I say before getting your tattoo, get a computer printout of the image or symbol you want. Post it up somewhere you can see it everyday, maybe the bathroom mirror. Once getting bored of it, you can remove it. Saves you hundreds of dollars and pain!

But if you still like it, think it "symbolizes" your life, an important event, or "means something special to you," or you just simply think the Unicorn/Dolphin/butterfly combo-creature just looks soooo cool, then go ahead!! Get the tattoo!! and don't look back!

I mean, this is 2010! All white-bread, suburban-raised, university-educated regular chumps / chumpettes should have tattoos by now! And not just the cereal box ones!
