What's up with the "World News" section in the Korea Times?

Here's some of the "serious international news stories" it recently brought to the attention of readers:

Kelly Brooke, cheering semi-nude

Banker fired for being "too sexy"

"Lots of sex" source of youth: Diaz

'Hustler' sexy lingerie lands in Korea

Argentine model, I will get naked in public

House cleaner naked from top to bottom

15% of drivers had sex, driving

Method to identify 'best' sperm discovered

'Strip' poker players trade underwear for chips

Yeah, that's weird.

A friend thought that maybe somebody over there set up an rss feed to get all the stories with certain keywords, like celebrity sex, or Hollywood nude, or something. You'll notice stories there, and all of the "news of the weird" crap they run out of foreign countries, often has crappy English, and is unsigned, so they probably just set up an intern and had him bang out a "translation" in 20 minutes and stuck it online.

My question is does that stuff actually make the paper, or is it only online?

Um, the ENTIRE american Media is no better, they focussed on CLinton getting oral sex in the white house for the better part of 5 years, and yet never went after Bush once for actually breaking the law, defrauding the American people with the whole Iraq war and the fictional weapons of mass destruction.

So Clinton lying about oral sex out of embarsament and self preservation BAD

Bush lying about Iraq and resulting in the death of thousands of Americans and even more innocent Iraqi's - Patriotic?

This does not even count the amount of scandals they go after when a prominent congressmen is caught having an affair, sleeping with a prositute, engaged in a homosexual relationship etc.

Hardly. Did you follow new media at all? Sure, most of the cable networks were RCon tools, but news changed BIG time.

I can't remember which one, but in one of Hong Sangsoo's films a character says something to the effect of "We Koreans like sex too much". This says a lot, I think.

Easy answer:

Foreigners (read: Westerners) are sex fiends!

Ever read a story about English teachers and their celibate lifestyles in the Korean media, either TV or print?

Ever wonder why underwear ads have white models?

Ever see the documentary series, "Sex and the City"?

White folks in their undies:

Laughing Laughing Laughing

That story is right next to the story on the great missionary work done by English Teachers who toil day in and day out donating their pay to charity as they try to educate locals.

Laughing Laughing

That "celibacy" remark was obviously in jest. For most.

I have been celibate for the 12 months that I have lived in Korea. And that ain't in jest.
