I was wondering what the best subscription most people have for skype when needing to call home. I went to their website and they have an unlimited country one for $13.99 and one for US and Canada for $7.99. I will be using skype to call home to the US only.
Also is it better to get a mobile to go # or an online #? I am not sure the difference between the two numbers so if someone can explain it that would be great.
Thanks |

That looks fine if I only want to call my family. What if they want to call me in SK? |

You need a skypein number, its included in the unlimited country plan.
Since you're in the US, you can get one, try to get one in your area code. |

Whether you get it included in an unlimited plan, or purchase it ala carte, the skypein number is pretty convenient. After the initial purchase, all incoming calls are free. If you're not on an unlimited plan, and really want to stretch your skype credit, get a skypein number in your home area code as crossmr suggested, or the area code where most of the people you talk to live in, and have them call you.
I usually talk to my family the same time every day. So I call them, let it ring three times, and they call me back. Or I see them on Facebook chat, and tell them to call. |

Just so we're clear, if you get a skypein number in your area code, even if you're in SK people can call you, and it's cheaper?
If this is so.... AWESOME. |

I must have been grandfathered into my plan, because I pay about $4 (it changes a little every time because I set it up in Won and the exchange is fluid), and get unlimited calls to all phones (landline and mobile) in North America. The SkypeIn number is nice, but keep in mind that this gives people the ability to call your computer, not your phone. So it's really only useful if you're home and logged in. |

Actually, you can use Skype call forwarding so that your family can call your Skype from their Skype. If you're not on Skype, it forwards to your mobile phone here. Payment comes out of your Skype credits.
Or, your family can just purchase their own Skype credits and call your mobile from their account. |

I got the world wide plan, for the price it is hard to beat. If you are only doing one country, pay your 7 a month and get that. I've also used that when i was only calling people in Canada. |

[b]This is great advice. I got the unlimited plan for the US and Canada only. It was $3.00
I have some questions I am hoping you can help me:
1. Can I forward my skype # to my cell phone in Korea? Are there any additional charges to forward my #?
(I read that additional charges may apply if the country is not apart of my subscription and skype only discussed forwarding the calls to a landline.)
2. If I want to make calls to my family from my cell phone should I get a go mobile # or purchase skype credit?
3. Would it be beneficial for me to get a mobile to go # to call people from my cell phone?
4. What other cell phones beside the iphone in SK have skype on it?
You are all very helpful. |

1. Yes. I do this, and sometimes I'll be out and get a call from home on my phone. It's pretty great. I don't have an unlimited plan, and it charges me a few cents per minute...pretty negligible IMO. |

About call forwarding to a cell phone... does skype charge you an additional fee for only when you receive a call from the number being forwarded or are you being charged per minute the call forwarding is activated? |
