My wife is an excellent Korean teacher. She hasn't had any lessons in a while because we just had a baby a while back, but she is looking to start up again. Where do you live?

I disagree. Getting a Korean girlfriend totally made me lose the incentive to learn. Instead, I just started letting her do everything for me that involved Korean.

I hired a wonderful Korean tutor at www.koreanlesson.net. She's been tutoring me for the last 5 months and I've had a great time learning from her. I'm almost finished the Sogang 1B textbook after 2 months with her.

Unfortunately, it's kind've pricey, but it's worth it as she does come to your house on time and is very focused at what she does.

Also agree that it is not a good idea. YOu won't see your gf as a teacher and will thus be lazy around her. SHe will also probably get annoyed if you are asking her questions all the time. As much as the "get a gf/bf" solution gets thrown around, it isn't as effective as one thinks UNLESS, a korean girl/guy that doesn't speak nor have one inkling of interest in learning English is willing to date you. Maybe it it is just me but I don't think that happens very often.

Language exchange.

http://www.hanlingo.com

Your partner usually wants to practice speaking. In exchange they teach you Korean. In general your partner won't be a professional Korean teacher, but many of the people you find on this type site are language students at university.

If nothing else, you can make a local friend who is in no way connected to your school.

Language exchange for a beginner? No. That will be like 80% English and 20% Korean, if that. Get enrolled in a class or get that private tutor you're asking for! and study for real~

If the K GF/BF doesn't speak English good, then it would be ideal.

Mine speaks better than me, and crushes me grammar-wise. Embarrassing really.
