Hello, I am in panick now. I need some help from any Arzonians.
I lived in Korea already a year and came back about 2 weeks ago. And I am going back to Korea, working for a NEW school.
And my new recruiter said that my criminal background check needs to be resubmitted, knowing that my previous one with the previous school is NOT a state one. This means, I need to have the FBI issue my CRC, which will take months. If this is the case, I won't be able to go back to Korea and thus no contract or whatnot-
Therefore, a friend of mine, Korean, call the local immigration office in the area that I will end up this month and ask what I need to do.
And the guy in charge said that all the arizonians had their CRC issued from the state and had no problem at all.
I don't understand this. As far as I know, Arizona does NOT issue a state CRC and thus we need to contact the FBI...
I am not sure who is right and who is wrong.
Also, the guy added that he knows that people from Georgia, since the state does NOT issue a state CRC, can validate their CRC from a municipal city or a local police station as long as the CRC says "The person has no prior CRC at all and this has been crosschecked with the state of Georgia CRC system" in it. And the guy said that in doing so, he has been giving the green light to the Georgians.
Now, what if Arizona does NOT issue a state CRC...and what if, I go to a municipal office or wherever and get my CRC which, as Georgia, includes that my CRC has been validated by the state of Arizona CRC system?
Any one can help me please???????? |

Ugh, this is the kind of ridiculousness that makes me hate AZ. I'm going through something similar where I might not be able to get my visa in time for my job offer because I have to wait for my FBI check which is like 13 weeks!!!
This link (http://www.azdps.gov/Services/Records/Criminal_History_Records/) specifically states that AZ will not provide a state check for purposes of gaining a visa, and from my research on the matter, I think that "the guy" that your friend talked to was wrong about other people not having problems.
I agree with Chilgo to contact the state police, but I doubt you'll get the answer you're looking for. So your recruiter doesn't have any suggestions? Have you ever lived in another state? Maybe try getting a local check and submitting that and see if they'll accept it? Sorry, but not sure what else to tell you. |

The system here doesn't care nor do they check where you get your CRC from. Get one from another state (I know plenty of people who have-due to time constraints).
I suggest Wisconsin-you can get one in about 10 days plus another 5 days to get it Apostilled. |

As far as I know, Arizona is the only state that doesn't issue state background checks. I had to get mine through the FBI.
But I don't think it will take months. I'm in Korea and I've ordered two background checks since the new rules. They both arrived five weeks after I mailed them my fingerprint cards. I imagine they would arrive sooner if you're in the US. |

Has anyone else from AZ gotten a FBI check recently? How long did it take? I'm also panicking since realizing Arizona's ridiculous law may prevent me from going to Korea.
Just submitted everything to the FBI today with a note explaining the situation. Fingers crossed it won't take 12 weeks! |

Don't even bother with the FBI. I am from Arizona and it took about 4 months from the time I submitted it to receive it. I even put a note with a specific date that I needed it by and when I called to check on it they basically told me its first come first serve, so good luck with that one.
I was born in a difference state and so I got a background check from that state and didn't have any issues getting my visa. Unless you're prepared to wait the 3+ months for the FBI, I suggest getting one from another state. |
