I'm guessing no, but take my speculation with a grain of salt. Cell phones and cell phone technology have been changing pretty rapidly.

My understanding is that New Zealand is a GSM country, and Korean phones operate on CDMA. I don't know enough about 3g/4g phones and networks to give a truly accurate answer, but I'm pretty sure you'll still be limited by this major fact.

I suggest a few searches to find an accurate answer. First, find out the bandwidth your phone operates on. Then find find out what bandwidths(oops, I mean frequency, and that should have been wavelength not bandwidth) are used in New Zealand. Finally, search to see if New Zealand has a CDMA network.

If everything looks like it will work, then the fun part begins where you need to get your carrier to unlock your phone for use on other networks.

I am on a contract with SK Telecom and got a Korean friend of mine to ring and set my phone up for roaming. I have used it while I have been on vacation in both Kuala Lumpar and in New Zealand without any problems.

Nz has both gsm and cdma

However I asked if it was possible a couple of years ago and was told it was impossible

I bought a new cell phone in Korea (in 2008) that has a sim card slot (for 3g Show.KTF) and I was assured by the cell phone store in gangnam that it would work in NZ with a NZ sim card...(I was with my Korean friend at the time and she specifically asked for me about this)

Roaming around the world and in NZ has not been a problem....

as for using my vodafone NZ sim card...it does not work...the phone only recognizes the contact numbers stored in that phone and nothing else

So if I had known a NZ based sim card would not work...I probably wouldn't have bought the phone

good luck
