I'm looking to get back into aggressive inline skating. I was wondering if anyone knows of a store in Seoul that sells them?

On a somewhat related topic does anyone know if the skateparks that require helmets care what kind of helmet you wear? I also mountain bike and don't want to buy another helmet. I know I will look completely stupid but I'm too old to give a damn.

There are stores near Dongdaemun Stadium. One is across the street from the area under construction. I believe there are a few stores around there though. It has undergone a face-lift recently.

Most areas around Seoul should have a sports shop which carries them however. Might be good to ask around your area. Often there will be a sports shop in the same building as your local E mart. That way when you need to buy new wheels or associated gear, you don't have to travel far afield. Your students should be able to answer this one.

I don't use the skate parks so I have no idea about helmet policies. I sometimes wear a helmet when I blade on the river paths, but often not. When I do, it is a bike helmet.

A few years ago a fellow teacher would go skateboarding at the local skate park and he said it was a little crazy as people wouldn't really pay attention to who was moving where. You'll want to blade defensively on the paths as well, if you are not already aware of that.

I believe wrist guards are the most important protection for inline skating, as you may well know.

I'd wear a helmet. I guarantee you that you will fall down, not do to your own mistake, but because someone doesn't use common sense.

I find it hard to inline skate aggressively with so many people around. If you go to skate parks, you'll mostly see speed skaters doing laps, and younger guys doing weird cone weaving drills. I've never seen anyone do something like jumps, grinds, riding rails, etc...

The area under construction at Dongdaemun Stadium is the ground the size of a stadium! Laughing

OP, if you start at Yeouido and travel south, just south of Yeoungdeumpo Station by a small river on that highway is an outdoor skate park. Can't be anymore specific as I simply have passed by it on the bridge over the river.

Lol, I thought later that I should have mentioned that it was the former stadium area that was under construction. I wonder if they will change the names of the stations?

They already did. Dongdaemun Stadium is now Dongdaemun Art and Culture Park.

As long as you hit ramps, rails, and curbs, who gives a tihs?
