I feel sorry for the English fans who paid for flights, hotels and match tickets in order to watch that sorry display. I think it's only fair that all expenses be reimbursed to the fans, and the players should foot the bill.
Next season, those players should all play for free, because none of them look worth 100,000 pounds per week. |

We just haven't got the players we used to, you know when you've got David James, Matthew Upson & Jermaine Defoe in your starting line-up and the likes of Heskey & Wright-Phillips coming off the bench that something's wrong. No pace in the centre-backs, Steven Gerrard playing 40-yard "Hollywood" balls to no-one at every opportunity, no service to Rooney (who's so used to playing in a 4-5-1 for The Scum he can't adapt anymore), in fact no creativity whatsoever (Joe Cole came on too late, and he's hardly Iniesta). Me and the other English lads in the pub were laughing at them all the way through the game, we knew what to expect, but I think its a good opportunity though to clear out the so-called "golden generation" and start afresh.
Credit to the Germans though, their passing was top notch and Schweinsteiger was brilliant, he didn't lose the ball once.
And with regards talk of how many "world class" players we have in the side, we used to have a few, but these days -being honest- its Ashley Cole at best. |

| The worst thing about that defeat was that Germany didn't do anything exceptional. They just did the basics of the game. Their passing and movement was tight and they kept a good shape throughout the game. |

+1. I have a feeling that the only way England and the FA can start to meet expectations is by overhauling the system in which they run their national team operations. It's always easy to blame the manager, and while Capello does deserve some blame, at the end of the day it's always up to the players to perform. It just seems that for whatever reason England steps onto the field thinking that they're entitled to win the tournament because they have a team of all-stars. It's not about all-stars, it's about a team playing with cohesiveness and that's what Germany did. They didn't do anything extravagant but their execution was just about perfect.
On a final note, I was very surprised to see before the game that England was favored over Germany on Bodog betting. What exactly did England do during the group stage to warrant being the favored team in this matchup? |
