I don't know whether I was unusually lucky today, or whether the Seoul Immi office has undergone an overhaul, but I had such an extremely friendly counter clerk when submitting my ARC docs. I got multiple-entry status without any charge, and was asked if I wanted to apply for an F-2 visa under the 'Point System' scheme. Hell, yeah, did I want an F-2!

Anyway, looking at the info pack they gave me, it seems that I fall short of the number of points required to meet the criteria for an F-2. I will also lose another 5 points by the end of the year because I will cross one of the age group thresholds in addition - not a lot I can do about that Crying or Very sad

It seems the most points are gained from good Korean proficiency and if you have completed a doctorate degree from a Korean uni.

However, looking at the criteria, it also refers to 'participation of Social Integration Program (10 points)'. Does anyone know what this 'Program' entails???

There was an article about it a while back. Of course it WAS the Korean Times so take it with a grain of salt or two. But to the best of my memory the gist was that it was a program mainly for foreign spouses of Koreans (mostly wives) and how they could adjust to Korea and Korean social norms.

I don't know the exact specifics or times or places where such programs would take place though.
