Hey, so this is for the gyopos out there...again :/
But I was just wondering, have of any you guys used:

1. JJ Recruiting
2. Gloii RS
3. YBM

I'm reeeally looking into applying for a job with Gloii RS, but can't find ANY info on them. JJ seems pretty popular, but I'm not sure how many gyopo use them, or even if this makes a difference [with them]. And I've read mixed reviews about YBM...

So ANY help would be appreciated~~
(btw, I've decided 100% that I want to work in a hagwon--if this makes any difference)
Also, even if you're not gyopo, I don't care!~ Your experience with either of these companies would really help me out a lot Smile

Did you use jj?

Like, did they screw you over or what? Can you please explain more? Cause honestly, I'm not going to waste my time working with a-hole recruiters. I already had the pleasure of doing that when I was applying for a public school position.

Well, as far as I can tell...gloii is kind of like a direct-service thing. Like, they have you apply directly through them, and they recruit for gloii hagwons only.

So pretty much what YBM does: Apply directly, to get a job with YBM. And I'm not too sure about jj, cause they seem to be a recruiting company only. And to be honest, I'm more interested in working with gloii, but as I mentioned in my OP, I can't find any info on them. Which sucks. But they seem pretty legit, and they have great jobs...especially for gyopo.

since you're a gyopo you should apply with as many recruiters as you can.
and don't be surprised if some don't even reply to you.
GOOD recruiters are pretty hard to find

I went through JJ (as did my husband) and we always got professional, prompt replies. We got exactly the kinds of jobs we were searching for, and our recruiter Cindy got us through the process very quickly.

I don't know if other workers for JJ are unprofessional in any way, I'd be curious to know what the above poster's story is. We had no problems with JJ at all; on the contrary when we ran into a snag when we arrived it was totally the fault of the POE, at which point Cindy stepped in and fixed it.

I highly recommend JJ.

Non-gyopo here.

I worked with Serah at JJ and also got prompt, professional replies. She had a public school position for me in April. The delays through the month of May were on my end, getting all my paperwork together and she was patient with me and managed to hold on to the position for me while I got my act together.

Frankly I was ambivalent about my decision to move to Korea and her persistent phone calls and emails were the motivation I needed to keep at it.

And here I am in South Korea since early June. Serah/JJ arranged for someone to meet me at the airport to make sure I got on the correct bus, and everything went smoothly. I was in good hands.

I am also gyopo and trying to figure out what may be the best route for me. I'm wondering if you've settled on a recruiter?

Right now I'm considering applying for GEPIK. What are your thoughts on hagwons?

Just looking for any information that could help. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure your experiences with JJ were fine, and OP, feel free to use them. There's an even chance you'll get good service. Or you won't. Then you can move on.

In my case, Mr. JJ himself tried to pull a switcheroo by telling me my interview for a public school job is going to be in a hagwon. When I asked which public school and the name of the person who I will be meeting with at the hagwon, he refused to tell me until I first agreed to go to the interview. No thanks Smile

Wow very frustrating.

I wrote a reply to your PM and when I tried to send it, it wouldn't let me since I have less than 25 posts. On top of that, I lost the whole message too.

I love this forum, but I must say that not only is that a useless rule, but it installs a barrier for those that wish to communicate and exchange information. If all members are reviewed at registration anyway, why is this rule in place?

The gist of my PM was that my Korean is decent. I can understand better than I can speak. Also I wanted to ask you why you've decided to move on from pursuing GEPIK. Oh, and I also thanked you for your helpful and thorough response.
