I am heading to the Philippines in August and was looking at the possibility of getting some ink done while I am there. Does anyone have any information about shops there? Has anyone had any work done who would be willing to share the experience?
I am specifically going to Cebu and through google searches I have found one shop that looks credible, but one never knows. If anyone knows of other shops, I am interested.
Information about cost would also be appreciated.
Thanks,

Just a little bump to see if I can get some info.
I found this website which looks decent and respectable, but very interested in prices.
www.ronniestattoo.com
I might actually break down and give them a call...

I do live there and after checking out a few (wanted to get some of my ink retouched) there are NONE that I would recommend.

That's a little surprising, but maybe it's shouldn't be. I have to respect your advice, but can I ask what you found dreadful about the shops in the Philippines? Was it the staff, equipment, cleanliness, the shop itself, etc.
The link I posted seems to be legit. They have a number of awards from Asian competitions and are located in the largest mall in Cebu. I have to assume the shop is top notch, but who knows.
Thanks for the replies,

My issues are cleanliness and hygiene issues. the staff at all the places I popped into were always helpful even if the equipment was a little sub-par in some cases. I personally think that a working autoclave is a requirement in a good shop as are new needles for each individual every time they do work.
If you want to go have a look - you must certainly be your own judge when it comes to getting ink done. Just use common sense and at least the place you linked to is not far out of the way for most tourists (or locals who shop there). unlike some of the places in lapu-lapu or mandaue.
Oh, and keep in mind that there are (in reality) no checks from the health department to ensure safe practices or effective consumer protection laws in the RP.
CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! Buyer beware.

I really appreciate the responses. I think you and I have similar requirements of our tattoo shops. I would definitely need them to use new needles and illustrate their desire for cleanliness and sanitation. I think I will still check them out, as I will be visiting that mall regardless, but I have lowered my expectations of actually getting it done.
Again, thanks for taking the time to respond,
