Hi everyone,
I have a lot of DVDs and was wondering if they would work in a Korean DVD player. I don't want to waste space/baggage weight bringing some of them with me if they won't work.
Thanks to anyone who can help me! |

In theory, DVDs in the States are locked in Region Code 1, the ones in S. Korea Code 3, and they are NOT interchangeable. IF your DVD has Code 0 instead of 1, then it is not locked and thus playable with Korean DVD player.
But, this actually depends on which kind of player you'll be using - some, but not all, machines are internally 'tweaked' to play any regional code.
Worst case scenario, you'll need to play the DVDs with your laptop, and perhaps hook it up with your TV, projector, etc. |

Yes and No. The U.S. is region 1. Korea is region 3. If you buy a DVD player out of the box here, it won't work unless it's a region/code free player.
Just make sure you buy one of those. |

The only thing I'll add is that if your DVDs are burned, they will be region free and will play on any player. |

They'll work. You can unlock the regions in pretty much every Samsung/LG DVD player purchased here. Look online for instructions on how to do it. Took me literally less than two minutes to unlock my DVD player to make it region-free (i.e. play DVDs from anywhere in the world). |
Can you explain basically how? |

It think it is usually pressing a combination of buttons on the remote or on the unit itself. If you have a DVD player that maybe able to be unlock, just google the model number or the brand and see if it can be unlocked. |
