Since I got to Korea 10 months ago the gf and I have started playing WoW casually on a Korean server. She created a Korean account for me so I could play.

Now I know it has been asked 100 times on how to play on US servers with the Korean version of the game but my situation is a bit different. I want to continue to play on my Korean server but IN ENGLISH, therefore setting the realmlist for US servers won't help.

Could I for example, install the US client (I have a US account too but I would have to set up a subscrition again right?) and change the realmlist to Korean servers and THEN be able to log in with my KOREAN ACCOUNT INFORMATION and access my characters on the Korean server in English? I don't think that would work for some reason. Is there any alternative?

Pkang or any other WoWers out there...Do you have any suggestions?

If you search this forum I had a post about how to play English WoW on Korean servers. Read that post. Install the Korean fonts

Now, here's what you gotta do differently. Currently, US servers are on version 3.3.5. Korean servers haven't been updated to so they are still 3.3.3.

When you install the English client, make sure you "cancel" the last update to 3.3.5. After you cancel the last update, go to your realmlist.wtf and change everything "us" to "kr".

Here's where it gets a little tricky. You have to change the Update server from us.worldofwarcraft.com to kr.worldofwarcraft.com because you don't want WoW to update your client version to 3.3.5.

However, when the Korean servers DO get the 3.3.5 patch, your client will update to 3.3.5 using the Korean patch file. YOu don't want that. Just be on the lookout. After doing everything above, and a few days from now you launch WoW and it says its updating to 3.3.5, you CANCEL that update. Go to your realmlist file again and change the update server from KR to US, then you launch the client so that it updates using the US patch file, not Korean

Hey guys.

Theres a thread up on the CSF forum on the WoW-US forums concerned about being asked for an SSN when trying to login to WoW while in Korea, as of 3.3.5.

I no longer live in South Korea, so I can't test for this and figure out a workaround myself, perhaps someone here knows and can offer them some insight?

You need a Korean Resident ID number to play WoW in Korea. Our ARC numbers will not work. It has to be a Korean ID number.

I can't post on that forum because I don't have a US WoW account/ID.

I think that OP has his information mixed up. WoW is not asking for his US SSN number to prove he's an American.

Even though the site is in English, he is being required to register for Korean WoW. If he wants to play on a Korean server, he needs to get a Korean ID number. If he wants to play on the US server, he needs to change the Battle.net region from Korea to the US (the website automatically picks your region based on your IP).

Then, he can register on the US servers and play there. Too bad I can't reply to that thread. Maybe someone with a US WoW account can reply by copy and pasting what I wrote.
