I met most of my friends online. I held monthly coffee get togethers and became friends with the normal people.

So were there a bunch of un-normal people?

There always are.

I'm arriving on July 14th! I would love to meet up with some folks. I'm down for shopping, girly spa time, coffee, drinks, dinner, other unforeseen Korean adventures, whatever. I'm pretty much booked teaching M-F in Yongin but I hope to spend as much of my weekends in Seoul as possible! Also, OP, idk if this is up your alley, but a Meetup group I'm a part of is doing a day at Caribbean Bay and then dinner out on Sunday the 25th...I won't be there for the first part of it but I hope to make it for the afternoon and evening. Look it up on the "Lost in Seoul" group, it sounds really fun!

Anyone want to try to set up another date for a meet up? I think someone mentioned the 26th? Any thoughts?

Yay! I'll look forward to hearing from you (and anybody else who wants to get in touch and make plans to hang out, honestly!)

Trip- What does Toastmasters have to do with this thread? We were discussing getting together for lunch, shopping and pedicures. It had nothing to do with public speaking.

These meet and greet things are well and good, but follow through seems to always be a problem. At the GEPIK orientation, I met a number of people from my area who seemed to have a common interest or two, but no info was exchanged. I don't think that I'm a real weirdo, and I had a nice time with these people. Maybe I'll run into them at a local Pub sometime...if I can gain the courage to walk into a pub by myself... in this part of the world, I sorta dread this idea, but it could happen.

...and then there was the guy who gave me a fake e-mail addy...

I really didn't care if you wanted to go to the activity that I mentioned. Your invite was due to the fact that I'd invited the woman next to you. If you were interested, I'd have sent you details. If you were not interested, it wouldn't have hurt me. I had nothing invested in it and now I've wasted my time trying to e-mail you and I'm annoyed.

This world would be so much nicer if people said what they meant and followed through on it!
