I bought a Korean study book, which came with a CD for test questions etc.

The cd works, the files are MP3's. The open in windows media player and zoom player. And they play, as can be seen in the volume control - The green line jumps up and down to the sound accordingly.

However there is actually NO sound being produced. I can put any other track on and it will play fine - also MP3's, or MIDI, WAV. So it's just the file issue. But it's a straight MP3 too... some kind of codec or protection? I've tried copying off the CD too but I'm all out of ideas. If it's some kind of codec, where on earth would I start looking =/

Oh, also I tried converting to WAV and other files, but I get 'not a valid format type' or some malarky along those lines. It's MP3!

edit - works on my laptop, so it's a computer issue *rubs chin* something needs downloading.

VLC player might play them. It's a free download.

If VLC doesn't play it then I dunno.........other MP3's play fine?

If it plays fine on another computer then you may have some conflicts with your audio software on the computer it doesn't work on......if you have the time and inclination then you could uninstall all your audio players, disable Windows Media Player, re-install your PC's audio drivers, then start from scratch by installing just one do-it-all video/audio player.....like VLC.

Yep, all other MP3's work.

I'll try refurbishing my software as suggested and update soon
