|
|
Hey
Does anyone know how to change a door code on a standard Korean door lock? I took off the back (where the batteries are) and there is a little recessed button which made an encouraging beeping sound when i pressed it, but I didn't know what to do next. And being somewhat paranoid about locking myself out, I didn't want to start pressing buttons.
Thanks in advance |

Should be:
Press button
Input new code
Press button
(Is on mine at least)
Just test it a few times before locking yourself out to make sure it works, lol... |

I googled/navered the model number for mine and eventually found an online manual with picture explanations of all the *s and #s that had to be pressed.
Then when I moved I thought I'd save myself the trouble, so I called one of the building ajeossis who grunted and pointed to the instructions on the inside of the battery cover, which I hadn't noticed. |

for mine I just:
open the battery cover on the inside,
press the little button,
then go around the other side of the door,
type in a code,
hit star
and bobs your mother's brother, you have a new code!! |

Does it have instructions inside the battery compartment? Most do. Just take a photo of the instructions and ask someone to explain it to you.
If you have a friend who can come by, then have him wait inside the apartment while you test it. If the new code doesn't work, he can open the door from the inside and you can try again. Or ask the landlord to or a neighbor to help you. Even if you can't speak Korea, I'm sure you can mime it.
I think that in general, you can't simply delete the code without entering a new one. So it's not likely that you'll lock yourself out. If you fail to change the code, then the old one will still work. It should. I haven't seen one yet that would reset to a default code. If there is a default code, then it should be something simple and universal like 0000. |
