Another quick question: I've walked by the USO(which is located close to Yongsan army base) and am wondering if anyone is allowed in there. Or do you need a military Id. Thanks.

yeah civilians (or should I say non-USFK/DoD people) are always welcomed there. Food is OK, they have a decent selection of US magazines at far cheaper prices than Kyobo etc.

you have to though go in a side gate not the one right in front of the front door. Heck you can even hang out and watch a sporting event on one of the other AFN channels if AFN Korea isn't carrying it.

There is also a very good travel agency located inside the building, Apple Tours and Travel. (Not a plug, but I've used them before and gotten better prices than when Korean friends have contacted their own agents on my behalf).

The USO also sponsors weekend trips to various parts of Korea, guided tours and such. Been meaning to do the Panmunjom thing for years, haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hey there.

Are non-US citizens welcome in the USO too? I know we can go in to book tours to Panmunnjon, but can we use the facilities as well

Cheers,

GZ

The food really does have its own character, so to speak.

But I have to say that I make it a point to eat there at least once a month, just for the intense burst of nostalgia that the food provides to anyone who ate institutional cafeteria food in 1970s U.S.

This month they are running the tour every Tuesday. I'm booked to go on 30th March.
They post their monthly calendar of trips on the USO website every month.
