Has anyone ever done this? Is it even possible? Please don't tell me why not to join the military. |

You would need to see a recruiter who can send you to a military entrance processing station (MEPS) and then attend training in the states. Recruiters and MEPS are stateside where populations of eligible recruits live; not in Korea. You could possible talk to someone active duty here about exploring your options, but will need to go home to get the ball rolling. However you can study up and correspond with recruiters and perhaps active duty service members in the military before you go stateside. Youtube also offers everything you want to see and then even stuff you don't want to see. If I could, I'd jump on it on being an officer now that I have my degree, but I'm too old to qualify even though I'm not old. |

Thanks! I was hoping to get the ball rolling while here. |

When I first enlisted in the US military, I did so in Seoul at US Army Garrison Yongsan. The recruiter was home-based in Hawaii and had scheduled trips to Korea and Japan to conduct interviews, testing, and, of course, enlistment of new recruits. I was able to take not only the ASVAB tests in Seoul, but also the DLAB (Defense Language Aptitude Battery) there.
If you're not a US citizen, you cannot do any of this unless you already have a "green card." The US military cannot sponsor you into the US. |

Or even how you found the recruiter? I am having zero luck with Google. |

Oh...
I know for a fact there used to be a recruiting station on Yongsan (Seoul) when I was stationed there. But this was over 10 years ago so...
I'll keep looking and see if I can find anything. |

Yeah, I know for a fact also that there were Recruiting Staff in not only Korea but Japan also. So it could (at one time at least) be done, as has been mentioned above. |

I tell you what..if you really wanted to join.....
I'd be calling the recruiter in Hawaii or Guam....have them call you back. Simple enough. |

You could call the Yongsan Garrison Operator at 0505-723-1110 and get the number from them.
Also, here is the main base directory; http://yongsan.korea.army.mil/phonebook.asp#R
The guy who does recruiting in Korea is a huge douche- his office is right near the DHL on South Post. You're better off doing it in the state. |
