Have you heard about this? A minimum number of 30 hours of training for those who signed their contract after October 2009. What things are you doing? If you don't do the training are you refused renewal?

Been here since november 09, and this is the first i've heard anything like this, from my school or other gepik people. Are you referring to something other than orientation?

Personally I wouldn't mind a little time off of school for some easy training time

I have been a GEPIK teacher since 2008 and have never had to attend a seminar/orientation/workshop since arriving...until last week.

GEPIK held a 3-day training near Osan for both new teachers and "experienced" teachers and they explained that it's part of the new requirements that all native teachers have 30 hours of training a year. Soooo... I am guessing new training sessions will be popping up more often now.

It just means they'll send you to orientation every year now. That counts for 24hrs of the training. The other 6 will be filled up by some random day off school with your local POE.
