I want to stay in Korea, but catch the KTX somewhere outside of Seoul.
I've been to Gyeongju and really enjoyed it. I was thinking along the lines of something simliar(3-4 hour) train ride.
Thanks |

Got more information about those huts? That sounds very interesting to me! |

Wando is nice , way down South in Jeollanamdo. Lots of little islands, you can ferry hop.
Lots of little valleys away from the parks in Gangwando, with rivers to walk. Get a map or an atlas and follow your nose. Take a bus and just see where it goes.
There is also this:

There are some temples down South which have hiking trails too. You could do a walking/bus pilgrimage. |

Deokjeokdo - Island with nice beaches about an hour by ferry from Incheon.
Danyang - River resort town maybe 3 hours by Mugunghwa/Saemaeul
Sokcho - A gorgeous beach and a stone's throw from beautiful Seoraksan, roughly a 3 hour bus ride east.
Songjeong - Just outside of Busan, it's the beach you escape to in order to avoid the crowds in the summer time. 10 minute taxi ride from Jangsan, the easternmost stop on line 2 of the Busan subway. It has the only proper beach bar I've ever seen in Korea. |

Ok, then I'll second (or third) the suggestion for Sokcho/Seoraksan... it's a seriously beautiful part of the country.
No KTX though... but the bus is comfortable. |
