Uh, a guy I know is going to visit his hometown for a couple weeks before he starts another year contract. He was wondering if there will be another medical check when he comes back to korea...specifically a urine test. Wink wink. Any help w/this would be much appreciated.

Short answer, yes.

In order to get a new ARC, he will be required to get another medical check.
However, he has 90 days from arrival to apply for his ARC.

He may need a new medical test if he is changing schools.

As to the 90 days, that is the Immigration rule for all foreigners, not just E2 teachers. You must register with Immigration and get your ARC within 90 days of arrival in Korea.

However, E2 teachers must be registered with the local education office, with their ARC number within 10 days of your first day of teaching. So, if you start teaching right away, you have only 10 days to get your ARC and register with the local education office.

Of course, many teachers never get registered with the local education office. - There are many more illegal teachers here than are aware of it.

Don't smoke dope before a drug test. Even a potential drug test. Don't smoke dope before a drug test. Don't smoke dope before a drug test. Don't smoke dope before a drug test. If he is at the same school as last time, he won't have to. Though, my POE makes all re-signing teachers take another medical, just for their own edification. Rolling Eyes

I had to take a medical before I went home, but I was careful to stay upwind when a friend smoked while I was home, just in case I had to take another when I got back. I ended up not taking one, but a friend had had to at his school.

Better safe than sorry, yes?
