Has anyone had any experience with the Rosetta Stone language program? Looks good, but I'd like some first hand accounts. Peace. |

I like it a lot for independent student work, if students have to put in time in a language lab, for instance. It has a lot of optons for managing students. You can print out their scores on each activity, which is good for times when you want them to master some langauge and can tell them to repeat it in test mode until they get 80% or whatever score you want.
You can get a demo for free that will let you give it a road test. |

Isn't Rosetta Stone an interactive CD-Rom? Basically its picture-oriented. You just have to choose the correct picture to the audio word (or various other options). But primarily visual oriented and interactive.
I've used it in the past, my only complaint is that some of the pictures seem pretty irrelevant to conversation. Learning your animals for example. But there are lots of practical sentences to learn as well. |

I've been trying to sue for royalties (or whatever you call it) for years now. |

Oh, I forgot one other thing I used to do with Rosetta Stone.
I had one of those magical touch-whiteboard-projection screen setups. I think it was called a Smart Board. With my lowest class, we would do Rosetta Stone together and I would pick one kid to go up and literally touch the picture with their hand. It was a really good experience, especially for little ones who can't sit at a computer and work independently for a long time. |
