I need a standing air-con for my apt. Not the kind that blows air over ice, but a real air con. I live in the north end of Seoul on line 1. New here, so I don't know good shopping places for this. Any help out there?

You do know these things start at around 600,000 won?

Check LG, Samsung, Hi-Mart, E-mart and Home-Plus.

Screw that, buy a used one at an appliance market (I live in Daegu, so I can't help with finding one in Seoul). Because of the time of year, the prices will be a little higher, but you can get a good wall-mounted unit installed for a couple hundred thousand Won, maybe less. I got a standing unit big enough for my 4-bedroom installed for a little over 500,000.

I got one off gmarket for 480,000, including install. Be careful though, if you need the external fan installing outside, they'll charge an arm and a leg for installing it. I got mine put on my balcony,in front of an open window. Get a Korean to call the companies who list on Gmarket.
